The invention relates to a heating system, in particular for vehicles and weekend houses, with a closed combustion chamber which is heated by open flames of a combustion gas and which delivers the heat to the air which is situated in a heating housing surrounding the combustion chamber and which is distributed in the room to be heated by means of a heater fan. In order to be able to go without batteries for operation of the heater fan, there is arranged in the combustion chamber at least one thermoelectric generator which produces the current necessary for the electric blower motor from the flame heat in the combustion chamber. The thermoelectric generator can be connected to a battery by a switch, in order to actuate the ignition device for the gas flames if required. Furthermore, it is possible to use the current produced by the thermoelectric generator simultaneously for operation of a combustion air fan.
