The invention relates to a multi-way protection circuit breaker having a thermally delayed excess-current trip device which contains a thermal trip device and a latching element, which can be released via at least one shaft, for moving contact pieces, an auxiliary switch for the circuit of a signal transmitter being operated by the trip device. In order to design such a protection circuit breaker in a particularly simple structural manner with respect to the auxiliary switch, at least one contact element (19) is fitted to a shaft (16) which releases the latching element; at least one thermal operating device (21) supports a mating contact element (20), and the contact element (19) and the mating contact element (20) form the auxiliary switch. The invention can be used, in particular, for protection circuit breakers of compact construction. <IMAGE>
