PURPOSE:To obtain an apparatus capable of accurately measuring moisture contained in a running belt-shaped object to be measured utilizing transmitting property or the like of radiation by subtracting the amount of cellulose from the basis weight determined with a beta ray type weighing measuring device after it is calculted from the amount of carbon determined with an X ray type carbon measuring device. CONSTITUTION:An object 1 to be measured runs vertically while a beta ray type weighing measuring device and a fluorescent X ray type carbon measuring device scan horizontally. The beta ray from a beta ray source 2a transmits the object 1 being measured and reaches a beta ray detector 2b being damped to be detected and the detection signals are inputted into an arithmetic section 4 to determined basis weight of the object 1. On the other hand, after X ray is radiated from an X ray source 3a, a part thereof is turned to a fluorescent X ray reflected on the object 1 and reaches a fluorescent X ray detector 3b to be detected while the other part thereof transmits the object 1 and detected with a transmitting X ray detector 3c. The detection signals from the fluorescent X ray detector 3b and the transmitting X ray detector 3c are inputted into the arithmetic section 4 to compute the amount of carbon and the weight of cellulose of the object 1 and then, the weight of cellulose is subtracted from the basis weight of the object 1 to calculate the water content thereof. |
