PROCESS:Microorganisms belonging to Emericella genus or Aspergillus genus and capable of producing the physiologically active substance FA-5859 of formula (e.g. Emericella quadrilineata IFO5859, etc.) are cultured in a medium, and the physiologically active substance FA-5859 produced and accumulated in the cultured product is separated therefrom. The compound has the following physical and chemical properties: elemental analysis, C 51.16+ or -2.0%, H 9.06+ or -1.0%, N 13.26+ or -1.0%; molecular weight, 2.4-3.3X10<2> (H2O); specific rotation[alpha]<23>D- 17.4+ or -3 deg.
