Process for the manufacture of an aldehyde

p-Tert. butylbenzaldehyde is manufactured by the electrochemical oxidation of p-tert. butyltoluene, an intermediate for the production of e.g. alpha -methyl- beta -(p-tert. butylphenyl)-propionaldehyde.
