COAXIAL DIELECTRIC RESONATOR

PURPOSE:To set freely a spurious resonance frequency and realize a small-sized high-Q resonator, by providing steps on inside and outside circumferential faces of a dielectric and covering them with a conductive layer. CONSTITUTION:The ratio of an inside diameter rb of a coaxial outside conductor to an outside diameter ra of a coaxial inside conductor is changed to change the line impedance. In the coaxial resonator which has one end short-circuited and has the other end opened, resonance conditions are changed by the line impedance. When the impedance of the line near the short-circuited end and that near the opened end are denoted as Z1 and Z2 respectively, resonance conditions are indicated by Z1/Z2. The spurious resonance frequency is a function of Z1/Z2. Thus, the spurious resonance frequency is set independently of the fundamental frequency.
