PURPOSE:To obtain an accurate tracking error signal, by subjecting a low-band converted chrominance signal, which is reproduced by a detecting head displaced together with a rotary head as one body, to envelope detection after elimination of crosstalk to obtain a tracking error signal. CONSTITUTION:Detecting heads A2 (B2) for tracking differnt in height by the 1/2 track pitch are arranged near a recording and reproducing rotary head, and a low band converted chrominance signal is reproduced and is inputted to a frequency converter 2. A frequency signal of the sum between a low-band converted chrominance subscarrier and a chrominance subcarrier is supplied from a frequency converter 6 to the frequency converter 2 to obtain a reproduced carrier signal. The reproduced carrier signal and a reproduced subcarrier signal delayed by 1H are added, and a burst signal is taken out to perform envelope detection after eliminating crosstalk components. The detection output is used as a tracking error signal. |
