PURPOSE:To obtain high blue sensitivity and to suppress photographic fogs low by contg. specific merocyanine dyes in a silver halide photosensitive material contg. AgCl at a high ratio. CONSTITUTION:The merocyanine dyes expressed by the formula (R1, R2 are alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, and >=1 of both are alkyl or aryl having sulfo groups, R3- R6 are H, halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or phenyl, any one set of R3 and R4, R5 and R6 or R4 and R5 may form a ring by binding to each other, Y is O, S or Se), more particularly dyes of which Y is O or S are microporated as a sensitizing dye in a blue sensitive emulsion layer contg. >=80mol%, more preferably 100mol% AgCl. Thus, the photosensitive material which is processable quickly, produces less photographic fogs and color mixing, and has stable photographic performance is obtained. |
