PURPOSE:To permit the correct adjustment as well as the automatic adjustment of the damping force by shortening a flexible wire by a method wherein the adjustment of the damping force of the shock absorber is permitted remotely from a position apart from the shock absorber under keeping a posture riding on a car. CONSTITUTION:A piston rod 3 is provided with a longitudinal hole 8 and a transversal hole 9 communicating liquid chambers 4, 5 divided by a piston 2 while an operating rod 12 is inserted into the piston rod 3 rotatably through a bearing 10. A tubular body 13, secured to the tip end of the rod 12, is arranged rotatably in the longitudinal hole 8 while the tubular body is provided with a plurality of orifices (a)... at the positions opposing to the transversal hole 9. The other end of said operating rod 12 is equipped with a face gear 19 in an upper bracket 7 while a spur gear 21, engaging with the gear 19, is connected to a rotary actuator 26 through the flexible wire 24. |
