PURPOSE:To recognize the characters with high speed and stability, by extracting the inclination of each character line for each sheet of the slip and during the reading of the first one character to produce an exclusive dictionary for slip and using this dictionary to read the characters following the first one character. CONSTITUTION:The slip sucking signal is fed to a control part 9 every time a slip is sucked at a slip sacking mechanism part 14. Then an original dictionary is read to produce an exclusive dictionary for the slip which is prepared at a memory part 10 and being read. This dictionary is sent to a discriminating part 8. At the same time, the characters on the slip set to a reading mechanism are converted into the digital signals through a photoelectric converting part 1 and then processed through a line width calculating part 3, a character frame detecting part 4, a subpattern extracting part 6, a feature matrix extracting part 7, etc. Thus the vertical, horizontal and oblique patterns are extracted respectively. The stroke which is processed at a stroke extracting part 12 and a mean angle calculating part 13 is applied to the part 9. Then the output of the part 7 is applied to the part 8, and an exclusive dictionary for slip is produced while the first character is being read. This dictionary is used to read the following characters. In such a way, the characters can be easily recognized. |
