PURPOSE:To prevent colors from misregistering, by a method wherein a single heat transfer ribbon is provided with at least three primary colors in plurality and in succession, and a color boundary discriminating part is provided at each boundary part between adjacent colors. CONSTITUTION:The heat transfer color ribbon 1 is provided with yellow (2Y), magenta (2M) and cyan (2C) colors, and the color boundary discriminating part (2D) at each boundary part between adjacent colors. The boundary part is detected by a method of using a photo-sensor (3S), a method wherein aluminum is vapor-deposited on the ribbon and is detected through contact or in a non- contact manner or other method, and driving of a take-up reel of a head carriage is controlled to conduct transfer recording in the primary three colors. Accordingly, maintenance is facilitated because it is necessary only to replace a single ribbon, the accuracy of each of the colors on the ribbon used is not required, and there is no need for considerable allowance of each of the colors for the recording width. |
