The piston of light alloy for internal combustion engines has a piston head, a shaft and two hubs serving to accommodate a piston pin, which hubs are formed by two swellings of the shaft emanating from the piston head. Each swelling has a relief slot which essentially extends in a plane running at right angles to the common axis of the hubs and along the extension of the inner surface of the shaft from which the swellings emanate. Beginning from that part of the outer surface of the corresponding hub, which is most remote from the piston head, each of the two relief slots extends up to a plane, which essentially coincides with that plane running at right angles to the axis of the piston and containing the axis of the hubs. <IMAGE>
