Appts. for producing a hydrogen-oxygen mixt. comprises an electrolysis tank of dielectric material subdivided into chambers by bipolar electrodes held spaced apart at predetermined positions by fixing elements. The bipolar electrodes (1) are dish-shaped or trough-shaped, all oriented in the same direction, and the side walls of the electrolysis tank are composed of intermediate layers (4) acting as spacers between the electrodes and located at the perimeter of the depression in the electrodes. Used for the prodn. of a hydrogen-oxygen mixt. as used in gas burners for cutting, welding etc.
