PURPOSE:To enable to perform a wide and reliable detection of a change in an electric resistance value against oxygen in gas to be measured or an air/fuel ratio, by a method wherein a detecting element for gas component consists of a composition comprising 20-60mol% cobalt oxide, 20-60mol%, and 10-50mol% nickel oxide. CONSTITUTION:CoO, MgO, and NiO are measured, well mixed by a hot method, sintered at 1,300 deg.C in an electric furnace for about 2hr, crushed and mixed, and are sintered at 1,300 deg.C for about 2hr again. The above procedures are repeated until they are brought to only a peak of a single phase by an X-ray diffraction. Ethylcellulose as a binder and terpineol as a solvent are added to the obtained grain, they are well agitated to form paste for screen printing use, and the paste is printed on a substrate by a screen printing method to sinter it in an electric furnace at 1,250 deg.C for 2hr. The sensitivity (n) to O2 of the element is 2.7-3.5 and the element is remarkably excellently sensitive to oxygen. |
