PURPOSE:To obtain a lightweighted, stable and non-polluted secondary battery which is easy to be processed and can be molded as an electrode into various shapes, by using, as a positive and/or negative electrode, high molecular burnt substance having a conjugated system. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode is doped with anions of the electrolyte, while a negative electrode is doped with cations of the electrolyte by measns of charge (figure a). As a result, the electric potential of a high molecular burnt electrode on the positive electrode side becomes high relative to that of the negative electrode. In this state, when discharge (figure a) between the both electrodes is forced to take place, a completely reverse reaction to that of the charge (figure a) takes place, namely the anions separate from the positive electrode, the cations separate from the negative elecrode, and electric current flows from the positive electrode to the negative electrode. Since this charge-discharge is carried out reversibly by ions' doping and separation to the burnt substance, it can be conducted repeatedly. As to a high molecular material, polyacrylonitrile or the like are subjected to dehydrogenation, dechlorination or the like by means of burning etc. as a result, a conjugated system compound can be obtained; and the high molecular burnt substance is particularly desirable to have a high molecular burnt structure whose density is less than 1.8g/cm<3>. |
