A method and apparatus for delivering metered quantities of a liquid wherein the liquid is circulated through a chamber 1 to fill the chamber with liquid, circulation is temporarily terminated with the chamber filled with liquid and while circulation is terminated gas under pressure is admitted to the chamber 1 to displace liquid therefrom through a discharged port 7, the quantity of liquid displaced being controlled by regulating the volume of the chamber and/or by regulating the relative disposition in the chamber of the point of entry of the gas and point of discharge of the liquid. As described the apparatus is for injecting fuel into an i.e. engine, gas pressure being supplied by a separate pump or from the engine cylinder and in addition to discharging the liquid, is utilised to operate the liquid circulating valves 102, 103, the liquid discharge valve 107 and the gas inlet valve 106. <IMAGE> |
