PURPOSE:To increase utilization of an active mass and battery perfomance and decrease short circuit of an electrode plate by pressing both surfaces of an electrode surface to form grooves during an active mass paste which is filled in a grid stays soft immediately after a paste is filled. CONSTITUTION:An about 2mm. thick plate-shape electrode plate obtained by filling an active mass paste 2 in a lead alloy grid is pressed with a press 5 via a set of molding dies 4 having a grid-shape convex port 3 crossing each other during the active mass paste 2 stays soft. When the press 5 is opened, a grid-shape groove 6 crossing each other is formed in a filled electrode plate. This plate is dried in a drying furnace at about 190 deg.C to obtain an electrode plate. Utilization of the active mass of the plate is increased about 5-10% more compared with a conventional plate, and voltage performance is increased. When a filled electrode plate is pressed during an active mass stays soft immediately after the active mass paste is filled, coming off of the active mass and shoting of an electrode are decreased. |
