PURPOSE:To prevent the production of slime such as microbe film in piping, by a method wherein, in case an organic or an inorganic component is electrochemically measured using a microbe electrode, a buffer solution is set to pH 4-5.5. CONSTITUTION:Waste water in an overflow tank 3 is fed through a valve switch 5 to a flow cell 7 with a microbe electrode, and meanwhile, a buffer liquid in a buffer liquid tank 6 to the flow cell 7. Usually, waste water and cleansing water are alternately measured, but with a valve of a valve switch 5 switched, a standard liquid in a standard liquid tank 9 is fed to the flow cell 7 several times a day for measurement. In case a measurement takes place, an organic matter in a sample liquid is utilized by means of an active germ in a microbe film, oxygen in the proximity of an oxygen electrode reduces, and a current value decreases gradually to attain a balance current value 10-20min later. The balance currents of the cleansing water and the standard liquid and a difference between them are measured with the passage of time, if the measurements show an approximately constant value, slime is prevented from generating. For this purpose, pH 4-5.5 may be used as the buffer liquid. |
