Novel embodiment of lattice mats - in particular for floating screeds - which consist of steel wires and are intended to contain a hot-water floor heating system. Individual steel wires have zones which protrude on one side by about 1 cm from the plane of the lattice mat and which serve as supports when the lattice mat is laid onto the respective base and which ensure, upon application of the concrete, that the lattice mat is kept at a predetermined distance from the underside of the concrete slab to be produced for the floating screed. Before introducing the concrete, it is possible for the lattice mat to be walked on, for example for the purpose of mounting the hot-water floor heating system, since the steel wires are elastically deformable in the region between the supports. The bent zones are produced by means of stamping tools which are arranged in front of or between the welding tools provided for welding the individual steel wires.
