The invention relates to an improvement to an open-end friction-spinning machine having two rotary bodies (13, 14) which are mounted closely next to one another and are equipped with a frictional surface and between which is formed a gap (21) merging into a neck. The neck forms the narrowest point of the gap. At least one rotary body (13, 14) is equipped with a suction zone (43) in the region of the gap (21). A yarn draw-off device (4) serves for drawing off the yarn, whilst at the same time preventing any twisting. In order essentially to suppress slip between the forming yarn (55) and the frictional surfaces of the rotary bodies (13, 14), there is provided correspondingly in the part of the rotary bodies (13, 14) facing the yarn draw-off device (4) at least one circumferential groove (27, 28), in which a friction-supporting surface (29) formed on a carrier and projecting with its active part into the path of yarn (55) forming in the gap (21) is closely arranged perpendicularly to the axis (22) of the neck of the gap (21), the movement of the frictional surfaces (19, 20) of the rotary bodies (13, 14) and of the friction-supporting surface (29) of the carrier (30) taking place around the circumference of the yarn (55). <IMAGE>
