PURPOSE:To obtain a uniform and appropriate vulcanized product in the vulcanization process by preheating an elastomer article with the irradiation of a microwaves prior to the vulcanization thereof until the effective irradiation energy reaches the set value predetermined for the article involved. CONSTITUTION:An elastomer article such as tire, sleeve, hose and fender is preheated with the irradiation of microwaves until the effective irradiation energy [as defined as (the quantity of incident microwave - the quantity of reflected microwaves) X passage of time]reaches the predetermined value for the article involved prior to the vulcanization thereof to obtain an intended product. For example, a predetermined effective irradiation energy is inputted into a microcomputer 3 connected to a monitor 1 and a magnetron 2. The actual irradiation energy is calculated with the microcomputer 3 from measured values of the quantity of actual input microwaves and the quantity of reflected microwaves and the passage of time as obtained with the power monitor 1. When the energy coincides with the predetermined effective irradiation energy, the irradiation of the microwaves is stopped under the prearranged program. |
