Each of the chain's coupled links (1) receives two hinge pins which extend through link apertures. The contact zones in the upright sides (5a,5b) of each aperture with the sides of the hinge pins are shorter than the puright sides. The contact zones each lie in a projecting portion (6a,6b) which is directed towards the centre of the aperture. The boundary of the zone fits in a corresponding recess formed in the longitudinal side of the cooperating hinge pin. The zones are offset in the longitudinal direction of the link w.r.t. the ends of the longitudinal sides (5a,5b).
