A process is described for the production of surfboards, in particular sailboards, in which, in order to form the board shell by thermoforming plastic sheets or tubes, either two board half-shells connected along their edges via a circumferential seam, or a tube shell is produced. The surfboard shell encloses a plastic foam core made from a PUR or EPS system. The starting material selected for the semifinished products of the thermoforming process, i.e. for the surfboard shell, is a thermoplastic made from the engineering materials polyamide 6 (PA-6), saturated polyesters (PETP, PBTB), polycarbonate (PC), polypropylene (PB) and mixtures thereof, which has been modified during plastication with additives from the group consisting of acrylates, methacrylates, styrene-butadiene copolymers (SB), copolyesters, copolyamides and acrylonitrile-styrene-butadiene copolymers (ABS) in order to make the plastic thermoformable and in order to improve the thermoformability and the specific strength properties.
