A wheel shield for covering the outside of the wheels of a motor vehicle is provided, in addition to ventilation holes arranged in the vicinity of the rim, with air intake openings in the area near to the axle, from which the air sucked in from the outside is fed radially outwards via radial blades located on the inside in order to obtain additional cooling.
