摘要 The invention relates to a device in a printer for compensating the thickness of a recording medium (12) which has different thicknesses within one printing line. Thickness compensation is necessary in order to guarantee constant spacing between the recording medium (12) and a print head (7). The device has bodies (1) which are arranged below the printing line, are located close together in a row, can be deflected independently of one another perpendicular to the recording medium (12) and are arranged so as to be resilient. The bodies (1) are deflected in accordance with the thickness of the recording medium (12). A selectively actuable clamping device (8, 9) connects them tensionally. The bodies (1) form a block of large mass which is suitable as a platen. The bodies (1) can be as narrow as desired. No traces of the bodies (1) occur on the recording medium (12). <IMAGE>
