The tension relief for a cable (7) which is to be held inside a test plug (1) and contains a multiplicity of individual conductors (9) which are to be connected to plug tongues (2) arranged in the test plug, is intended to be constructed such that, even if the plug (1) is pulled out by means of the cable (7), detachment of the cable (7) from the plug (1), and undesired separation of individual conductors which are attached to the plug tongues (2), e.g. by soldering, are reliably prevented. This is achieved in that a holder (6) for retaining the cable (7) and a web (13) adjacent to this holder (6) are arranged in the handle part (3) which is to hold the plug tongues (2), and in that a space is provided between the holder (6) and the web (13), which is dimensioned such that an end region (10) (of wedge-shaped construction) of a clamp (8) comes into contact with these parts (6, 13) of the test plug. <IMAGE>
