摘要 <p>An inductor (L) mounted in series with the discharge lamp (V), and a capacitor (C1) is mounted in parallel with the source of potential to correct the power factor. A capacitor (c2) is connected in parallel with the inductor to resonate with it, and a capacitor (C3) is connected across the discharge lamp. The resonant capacitor has a value 0.1 to 10 times the capacitance of the lamp shunt capacitor (C3) and the magnitude of the inductor (L) and the magnitude of the resonating capacitor (C2) are chosen to give a resonant frequency in the range 30 to 150 Hertz. An ignition capacitor (CM) is connected across the lamp through a thyristor switching element. The starting current does not exceed the magnitude of the nominal current. Nominal current is resumed at the beginning of the stabilisation phase, after 180 seconds.</p>
