In a device for heating water with the aid of the residual heat of the exhaust gas leaving a furnace fired by a burner (2) and flowing off to an extractor, which device has a chamber (9) which is arranged in the flow path of the exhaust gas, is provided with an exhaust gas inlet (7) and an exhaust gas outlet (8), and has a helical insert around which the exhaust gas flows and through which water to be heated flows, it is possible to achieve a good thermal yield and thus excellent economy when there is provided in the region of the exhaust gas outlet (8) of the chamber (9) a butterfly valve (14) which can be opened or closed as a function of the turning on or off of the burner (2), and the chamber insert, through which the water to be heated flows, has a plurality of tube coils (10) that extend over the entire chamber length and are distributed approximately evenly over the chamber cross-section. <IMAGE> |
