Dispersions containing a) a pigment, b) an oxalkylated novolak, c) urea and or a compound containing at least 2 long-chain aliphatic groups which are connected over a bridge member containing ester and/or amide groups, d) water and/or agents retarding the drying up and, optionally, usual adjuvants, are useful for pigmenting natural or synthetic materials, especially aqueous systems containing cellulose ethers.
