PURPOSE:To manufacture an inorg. fiber with superior tensile strength and a high elastic modulus from the resulting composition by adding a specified compound such as dialkylamide, isocyanate or beta-diketone to a soln. of polymetaloxane in an org. solvent. CONSTITUTION:Polymetaloxane having structural units represented by formulaI and/or formula II (where M is a tervalent metallic atom of a IIIa or Va group metal, Cr, Mn, Co, Ni or a rare earth element or a quadrivalent metallic atom of a IVa group metal, Zr, Hf, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co or Ce, and each of Y1 and Y2 is an org. residue) is dissolved in an org. solvent. To the soln. is added >=1 kind of compound selected from compounds represented by formulae III-VII (where each of R1, R2 and R3 is alkyl or alkenyl, R4 is alkyl, alkenyl or H, and n is 2-18). By spinning the resulting composition, a polymetaloxane fiber is obtd. as a precursor, and the precursor is calcined to manufacture a superior metallic oxide fiber. |
