1,162,086. Peroxidic compositions from diacetone alcohol. KONINKLIJKE INDUSTRIEELE MAATSCHAPPIJ NOURY & VAN DER LANDE N.V. 5 Feb., 1968 [21 Feb., 1967], No. 5734/68. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] A peroxidic composition is prepared by reacting diacetone alcohol with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide in a molar ratio of ketone alcohol to H 2 O 2 of not more than 1: 2, at a temperature in the range from 10-50‹ C. in the presence of 1-20 mg. equivalents of a completely or substantially completely dissociated acid per mol. of diacetone alcohol, and subsequently adjusting the pH of the reaction mixture to 3-5. The reaction may be carried out in an inert solvent, and a 50% or 70% by weight solution of H 2 O 2 is preferred. Specified acids are sulphuric, phosphoric, and toluene-sulphonic acids and also strongly acid ion exchangers. The compositions are useful as initiators in the copolymerization of unsaturated polyester resins. |
