PURPOSE:To decrease pipe formation considerably by charging respectively specific framelike deoxidizing materials and solidification accelerators successively in the end period of charging of molten semikilled steel, and cooling the molten steel quickly and uniformly thereby decreasing foam at the corners in the head part of a steel ingot easily and surely. CONSTITUTION:Molten Al semikilled steel 2 is charged into a mold 1, and just prior to the end of the charging, a bar-like deoxidizing material 3 is charged into the mold 1 to deoxidize the corner parts in particular and to decrease the foam in said parts. Upon ending of the charging of the steel 2, a solidification accelerator 6 is charged into the steel 2. The material 3 is constituted of linear connecting parts 4 and annular corner metal increasing parts 5 connected to the same, for which wire aluminum, or plural pieces of wire aluminum and bar aluminum are used as materials. The accelerator 6 is constituted of a metallic wire net or the like to make the meltability over the entire part good and uniform. Thus the increase in the ceiling thickness of the steel ingot is made possible extremely easily and the rate of pipe formation of the products is decreased considerably. |
