<p>A pallet for supporting and shifting goods has base and platform members separated by corner pillars shaped to accommodate the ends of broad 'U' profile bars of metal or plastic which reinforce the structure. Opt. the pillars are moulded from a glass fibre reinforced resin with a coaxial passage, opt. reinforced by a metal tube having flared ends, and ancillary longitudinal passages with recessed rims to accept the transverse reinforcing bars. The ends of the bars may extend to full depth of the corresponding pillar passage or may extend to half the depth thereof so that pairs of reinforcement profiles can be included mouth-to-mouth. For standard pallets of e.g. 1m x 1.2 m x 168 mm, the main faces are of timber slats and the pillars and reinforcing profiles may be of reinforced polyester, polypropylene or high density polyethylene.</p> |
