PURPOSE:To prepare L-tryptophan from indole or anthranilic acid, by cultivating a bacterium belonging to the genus Bacillus contaning a vector which is integrated with a gene field participating in tryptophan antagonist resistance. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium such as Bacillus AJ 11715 (FERM-P 6195) belonging to the genus Bacillus, containing a vector which is integrated with a gene field participating in tryptophan atagonist resistance obtained from a chromosome of a variant belonging to the genus Bacillus having tryptophan antagonist resistance, capable of producing L-tryptophan from indole or anthranilic acid, is cultivated in a medium containing indole or anthranilic acid under aerobic conditions, and L-tryptophan is collected from the culture solution. |
