<p>A calendar is divided into periods corresponding to the oestral cycle for the female of the animal species. The columns contain these numbers of days and each day has a number of spaces in which the number of each animal can be entered. The number is the identity of the animal served or artificially inseminated. The number of the male used is entered in brackets. If the mating process is unsuccessful the number is crossed out and the female number is entered in the following column at the same height. This process allows a mating process balance sheet to be completed in which the number of matings is noted and if they were successful. The unsuccessful matings are also counted.</p> |
