PURPOSE:To compensate the position of a reproducing head without using any extra track, by detecting the change of the phase of the reference clock signal produced from the digital signal data which is recorded by securing a difference between the width direction of the head gap and the width direction of a track. CONSTITUTION:The informations I1, I2, I3... are recorded on a magnetic track Tr which travels toward an arrow mark so that the same phase points are continuous obliquely and the reproduced by a reproducing head 1 having a gap 1a at the center. If the head 1 has a shift to the upper part as shown by the position 1', the output signal is identical with that obtained by reproducing the magnetized inverse information I3 which has a delay of phase. While the magnetized inverse information I1 having a gain of phase is reproduced if the head 1 shifts to the lower position 1''. As a result, it is possible to understand both the direction and the degree of the shift of the head 1 to a magnetic tape by detecting the phase of the output signal of the head 1. In such a way, the position can be compensated for the head 1. |
