PURPOSE:To improve durability and traveling performance by forming a ferromagnetic metal layer on a nonmagnetic base by vapor deposition, and forming a protective layer of a flouorocarbon polymer contg. a metal through plasma polymerization of a fluorocarbon monomer using a metal as a target. CONSTITUTION:A ferromagnetic metal layer 1 of Ni-Co or the like is formed on a nonmagnetic base 2, and on this layer 1 a protective layer 3 of a fluorocarbon polymer layer containing a metal is formed by plasma polymerizing gaseous C2F4 or the like using a metal, such as Mo, as a target, thus permitting the easily obtained laminate layer to be improved in corrosion resistance and durability, and enhanced in traveling performance and to serve as a magnetic recording medium for use in a magnetic tape and a magnetic disc, etc. |
