Several horizontally joined structural units make up a storey of a building. They are peripherally bounded by steel frames and four hollow steel corner columns, one unit for installation on a base being made to a high standard of precision, to serve as standard unit, in a process for erecting a building. The standard unit (A) is lowered by crane onto a prepared base, at a prescribed point, and mounted. One or more additional units (B) are similarly lowered and mounted at prescribed points. The columns (10) of these are firmly joined to those of the standard unit, which are aligned. Heavy units can be safely and accurately placed in position by crane.
