A circuit is described for electrical tools, for example hand-held drills and hand-held circular saws, having a push-button switch which can be locked in the switch-on position, which circuit prevents the tool motor from starting inadvertently and dangerously if the plug is inserted with the push-button switch switched on. To this end, the circuit is designed such that it recognises the simultaneous appearance of the mains voltage in front of and behind the push-button switch. <IMAGE>
