The compression pipe joint has a body (C) with an external thread (C4) which is counterbored (C2) to accept a tube (T). The bore also has a conical section (C3). A threaded nut (E) fits over the tube and screws onto the body. The nut is counterbored and has a conical section bore (E2). A metal, deformable, joint ring (B) is housed within the nut/body cavity so that the leading edge (B1) fits in the conical bore (E2) of the nut. The leading edge has two cutting rings (B3) which cut into the pipe when the joint is tightened. The opposite face (B4) of the ring rests against the leading face of the body and has a projection (5) which enters the conical cavity between the tube and the body and compresses the rubber sealing ring (J).
|
