The safety device for a pressure vessel comprises a bursting disc with a central portion convex towards the vessel, joined by a curved portion to a flat annular edge. The latter is clamped between support rings on the upstream and downstream sides so that the convex portion protrudes into the upstream ring. The upstream ring (30) has an annular clamping flange (42) towards the disc edge (38), whose width in the radial direction is appreciably less than that of this edge.
