A body, such as a sound-absorbing element, essentially consists of a mineral-fibre pipe section (1) having a circumferential outer wall (3) which is not very dimensionally accurate and an inner winding-spindle opening (2) with a high degree of dimensional accuracy. A cover (5), the outside diameter of which is smaller than the inside diameter of the winding-spindle opening (2), is provided to cover the end face of the winding-spindle opening (2). The cover (5) is inserted into the winding-spindle opening (2) and axially positionally secured there by means of a separate supporting device (8). The supporting device (8) essentially consists of a supporting ring (9) of sufficient axial overall height (h), which is held via separate bearing parts (13) with recesses (14) in the material of the mineral-fibre pipe section (1) and for its part supports the cover (5) with bearing parts (10), so that said cover can be stressed, for example, by means of a threaded rod (12) towards the central part of the mineral-fibre pipe section (1). <IMAGE>
