Direction fixing elements for castors are intended to be able to block the rotational movement of the roller fork (5) about its perpendicular axis (4) in one or more specific travel directions so that the device, for example a refuse container, which is equipped with such castors can move more comfortably or also be fixed. For this purpose, the direction fixing elements have a fixing plate (6) which can be attached to a securing plate (2) which is connected in a rotationally movable manner to the castor fork (5), and a locking lever (8) which is connected to said fixing plate (6) so as to be swivellably movable about a horizontal axis (7), said locking lever having a locking tab (14) which can be placed in a fixing engagement with a locking recess (5''') present on the castor fork (5). In order to keep the direction fixing element as simple and as space-saving as possible and to be able to actuate it comfortably, and to make it even more reliable in its function, its locking lever (8) is constructed as a single-arm lever whose horizontal swivel axis (7) is located between its locking tab (14) and the axis (4) of rotation of the castor, the spring (9) constantly attempting to press the locking lever (8) into its folded-down fixing engagement position but at the same also locking it in the folded-up position of rest. <IMAGE>
