The invention relates to a rotating cutter head for paper working, in particular for trimming inner-book backs in guarding and adhesive-binding machines. The object of the invention is to improve a known cutter head for trimming inner-book backs so as to permit the use of these cutter heads for working inner books of any thickness. By means of the invention, the object of removing the increased paper waste produced during the working of thick inner books from the space between cutter head and inner book before this waste accumulates in the space is achieved. According to the invention, this object is achieved in that at least one shearing blade, having a cutting edge arranged at a lower level relative to the cutting edge of the cutting blade or cutting blades, preferably running parallel and interacting with a counter-blade, is provided at the periphery of the rotating cutter head. The supporting body for the cutting blades is preferably designed as counter-blade for the shearing blade. The waste can be reused as raw material for papermaking. <IMAGE>
