A high frequency heating appliance having a control circuit including a microcomputer and having cooking mode selection keys for the selection of one of two or more cooking modes such as "normal cooking mode" and "defrosting mode" and weight setting keys for introducing weight information, wherein a cooking mode such as "normal cooking mode" is selected and a numerical display on a display tube is incremented every actuation of the cooking mode selection key. The material class of a heating load is determined through the selection of the numerals appearing on the display tube and the weight of the heating load is then input by the use of the weight setting keys. Heating is then effected upon the actuation of a start button with an appropriate heating time and an appropriate high frequency output both corresponding to the material class and weight of the heating load, based upon information stored within the microcomputer. |
