The invention relates to a process and to equipment for compressive regeneration of flexible filter materials, oil separation materials and/or support materials which are loaded with solids, oil-like liquids and/or bacteria. Especially polyurethane foam has proved to be suitable as such a material. However, its regeneration has hitherto caused great difficulties. It is therefore proposed that the material is transferred into a regeneration device and freed therein by compression from the deposited solids, oil-like liquids and/or bacteria and the water, that the solids, oil-like liquids and/or bacteria, which have been released, are separated from the material by draining together with the water, and the material is removed from the regeneration device. The preferred compression devices used here are either chamber presses or at least two rollers rotating in opposite directions.
