The subject-matter of the invention is a television receiving system in modular construction with a picture display monitor, a sound reproduction section combined with the former or separate and with a separate receiving section which contains at least two VHF/UHF channel tuners, two video IF amplifiers and demodulators and two switching units for synthesising the tuning voltage or tuning frequency. The dual or multiple receiving section is alternatively switched on, tuned and programmed via a tuning and remote-control system which exists only once. It contains all required standard connections for connection to the picture display monitor and the other programme sources such as, for example, video recorder and video disc player and connections for forwarding the control signals for all analog control functions such as brightness, contrast and colour intensity in the picture display monitor, and volume, balance, treble and bass in the AF amplifier module and, finally, for the drive functions of video recorder and video disc player. Various programme sources can be selected simultaneously and independently for information and checking purposes by separate source switches for the video and audio signals.
