<p>PURPOSE:To render an electrode invisible, and to enhance heat resistance, by forming a vertical orientation control film consisting of a silane compd. having a long-chain alkyl group, an oligomer made of a silanol oligomer, and an org. polymer on the whole display face of 2 transparent electrode bases of a liquid crystal display element. CONSTITUTION:Transparent electrodes 5, 5' are formed on the surfaces of 2 transparent glass base 1, 1', respectively, and vertical orientation control films 6, 6' are formed on the electrodes 5, 5', respecitively. The films 6, 6' are formed by coating 5, 5', and 1, 1' with a soln. obtained by dissolving an org. polymer, e.g., polyimido-isoindolo-guinazolin-dione in a soln. on a long-alkylsilane-silanole oligomer produced by reacting a silane compd. having a >= 10C long alkyl group with a silanol oligomer, and drying it. These films 6, 6' have 1.65-1.80 refractive index, small in the difference between those and the electrodes 5, 5', thus permitting the electrodes 5, 5' to be made invisible, and enhanced in heat resistance, besides, the films 6, 6' to be obtained by printing, and productivity to be enhanced.</p> |
