The invention relates to an integral melting conductor for electrical fuses having at least one deposit of effective material in a groove, and constriction points which reduce the cross-section. The aim of the invention is to create a melting conductor which has low energy losses, is resistant to ageing, has a fixed characteristic and can be produced in a technologically advantageous manner. A melting conductor has been developed which melts through quickly at temperatures which are only slightly above the melting point of the effective material, as a result of the deliberate generation of flows in the fluid effective material and the utilisation of precipitation processes, and interrupts the current flow in that a local region of the carrier material web which is half covered with effective material is dissolved at right angles to the surface and simultaneously over the entire width of the web.
