The method provides that appropriately authorised subscribers of a telephone PABX system can leave any call condition in simple fashion and their subscriber station (TN) is switched to a condition in which the subscriber is provided with the facility of initiating, directly from his subscriber station (TN) and as desired in any order, all or only quite specific procedures which are available on the basis of the user facilities of the PABX system. From this condition, the subscriber can, for example, pick up calls arriving on a neighbouring extension, answer a multi-address call or a radiopaging call, answer waiting calls in the case of a night service or set up any other connection. The original other party to the call is switched to a waiting condition and is reconnected to the subscriber station (TN) of the subscriber who initiated the waiting condition only at the instigation of the latter. <IMAGE>
